Sir, on May 27, 1933, my grandfather, Officer Charles Farkas Sr., of the South Bend Police Department, South Bend, Indiana, was gunned down by a bank robber. My grandfathers partner, Officer Thompson, was also killed by the same mad gunman, who was allegedly kicked out of Dillengers Gang due to his "wildness." Neither of their names appears on your site. If you would please, add their names as fallen heroes. At the time of my grandfathers death, my mother was only 4 years old, and just faintly remembers her loving father. He also left behind 3 other children and an incredible loving wife! In 1989 I followed in his footsteps, becoming a South Bend Police Officer. My grandfather was only here (USA) for a few years, coming over from Hungary. His children still survive him, along with my brothers, sisters, and other loving relatives who cannot express our sorrow and pain for not having ever met our "Grandpa." God Bless you for creating this site, the music alone helps pay tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community. Last year a close friend and fellow SBPD officer, Cpl. Paul Deguch, was killed in the line of duty. I Continue to pray for Paul and his family, as well as all officers! Thanks, Sgt. Chris Jordan, South Bend Police Department.
